Design of several drainage projects in Surrey, including a culvert replacement, storm sewer upgrade, bank protection, silt collection basin, trash rack modifications and fish habitat enhancement.
Cypress Bowl Sewer Link (Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks)
Design an economical gravity sewer line running down the mountainside under stringent environmental regulations. The work was completed the project on time and on budget.
Fitzsimmons Creek Flood Protection and Bridge, Whistler (Greenside Properties)
Design and construction inspection of a 650 m long training berm to protect a proposed residential development as well as an existing subdivision. Analysis of the hydraulic effect of a proposed bridge waterway to optimize the design of the bridge opening. Floodproofing recommendations for proposed buildings. Environmental approvals for the training berm and bridge.
Shoreline Protection Project (Qualicum Indian Band)
Contract services including tender and contract documents, general and technical specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, issuance of drawings and change orders for the design and construction of approximately 1,000 metres of shoreline protection works.
Logan Creek Restoration, Langley (Pottinger Gaherty Environmental Consultants Ltd)
Sigma provided engineering design, approvals and tender for the Water to Wire Turbine Supply contract and the General Construction contract, services during construction and commissioning for this 2.8 MW project on Vancouver Island. The project has been in operation since February 2009.
Mears Creek Hydroelectric Project (Synex Energy Resources Ltd)
Sigma provided engineering design, environmental assessment, approvals and construction management for a 3.8 MW hydroelectric development near Gold River on Vancouver Island, BC.
Fraser River Pocket Marsh, Whonnock (Pottinger Gaherty Environmental Consultants Ltd)
Detailed engineering design for a 180 m2 tidal pocket marsh created to compensate for habitat lost due to the presence of a cedar shingle mill. The design included a riprap berm to provide stability and erosion protection, and the placement of select fill suitable for the establishment of aquatic plants.
Brown Lake Project (Synex Energy Resources Ltd)
Engineering design, environmental assessment, and approvals for a 7 MW hydroelectric development near Prince Rupert, BC.
Archibald Creek Flood Protection and Bridge, Whistler (Taina Development Corporation)
Assessment of the flood risk to a proposed residential development located adjacent to Archibald Creek at Whistler, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of the basin and creek channel. Design of a bridge waterway and approach channel to safely convey an extreme debris flow. Secure BC Environment approvals for the subdivision and bridge construction.
Nineteen Mile Creek Flood Protection and Bridge, Whistler (Howe Sound School District)
Estimate of the 200 year peak flow in the creek, design of a bridge waterway and training berm, and provision of floodproofing recommendations for the proposed Whistler Secondary School.
Zymoetz River Erosion Study and Protective Works (Ministry of Transportation and Highways/Kitselas Band)
Conceptual design of erosion protection alternatives for a 600 meter reach of the Zymoetz River near Terrace.
Fitzsimmons Creek Studies (Resort Municipality of Whistler)
Stream modelling on the HEC-2 program, dike design, and recommendations for a creek management program.
Surrey Master Drainage Program (District of Surrey)
Development of a Master Drainage Plan including analysis and identification of drainage problems, installation of a data collection network, development of a computerized hydrology model, and design of stormwater control systems.
Bella Coola (Bella Coola Band Council)
Design and construction supervision of riprap works for the Bella Coola River and Tastsquan Creek to protect the river banks from erosion.
North East Coal Development Area (Teck Corporation)
Preparation of detailed design drawings and construction specifications for 1200 m of riprap diking at the Bullmoose mine site and 1000 m of diking at the Wolverine River rail loading area.
Flat River, Tungsten, NWT (Canada Tungsten Mining Corporation Ltd)
Evaluation of remedial work for Flat River including river diversion, installation of new culverts, erosion protection, and provision for fish migration.
